Party Time Chocolate Turtles

how to make chocolate turtles

1 lb. caramel
1 lb. milk chocolate
2 cups pecans
Red foil wrappers

Roast the pecans by spreading them on a cookie sheet and placing in a 350-degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Alternatively you can microwave them on high for 30 seconds, then stir; repeat until the nuts are hot to the touch. Not only does it bring the oil out in the pecans, but it seems like more pecans when they are crunchier.

Place the caramel in a dish sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Microwave for 10 seconds to soften; do not melt. Work the pecans into the softened caramel and then form into a roll. Cut into wafer-cookie-sized pieces. Dip into melted chocolate. Makes about 30 turtles.

Krispie Kritters for Halloween

Time to get a little ghoulish this Halloween season! Either Home-made or store bought Rice Krispie Treats work great for this project. The outcomes are completely your own, so go crazy creative with these Krispie Kritters!

Yields:

16 Rice Krispie Kritters

12 – 18 Chow Mein Monsters

16 Rice Krispie Treats

1 – 12oz bag Chow Mein

1 bag mini marshmallows

Paramount Crystals

Purple, Orange, and Lime Green Candy Melts

Purple, Orange, and Lime Green Jimmies

Large Candy Eyes

Small Candy Eyes

Separate candy melts into 3 microwavable bowls. Add a pinch of paramount crystals to each bowl and melt until smooth. Separate Jimmies into 3 bowls for dipping.

Once the chocolate is smooth, dip the top half of each Rice Krispie Treat to coat and then dip into the Jimmies about a third of the way to the middle. Mix and match the colors to give them a fun pop! Add eyes at random and then set aside on parchment paper.

Once all of your Krispies are coated, time to use up the remaining chocolate to make the chow mein candies! Add a handful of chow mein noodles and a handful of marshmallows and stir until everything is coated. Spoon out the mixture onto parchment paper and add more of the candy eyes. These are supposed to look free form and crazy.

If you’re looking to make the chow mein monsters on their own, use a cup of chocolate for a cup of noodles and a cup of marshmallow.
